Scent from Heaven is a sensory odyssey delving into Agarwood’s journey, intertwining themes of pain, human longing for healing, and redemption – the essence of resilience, migration, and interconnectedness.


Across the Ocean
2023 | Installation series with sculptures, videos and sometimes performances.
Across the Ocean is an installation series featuring developed works from “Asia Bistro” and “Made in Rice.” The series decodes letters sent by the artist’s aunt, a contract worker in the GRD, revealing how trauma and political agendas can shape one’s reality through distorted forms, materials, and movements.


Made in Rice
2021 | Performance and installation
Made in Rice is a 3-channel performance video that premiered as a landscape installation at Planten und Blomen, Hamburg. The work explores underlying hints of discrimination in mass-consumed media about “Asianness,” interwoven with reflections on the immigrant experience and the trauma endured by the artist’s aunt in the GRD.


Asia Bistro
2018 – 2021 | Photography
Asia Bistro is a photographic series exploring food consumerism, stereotypes, and discrimination against Asian identity in Germany. Through reconstructing clichés and using her body as a medium, the artist questions existing stereotypes. The series’ photobook was shortlisted for the Kassel Dummy Award 2021.
