A treescape installation – a song about man’s dream and nature’s pain – the premiere of “Scent from Heaven” in Planten un Blomen.
In the enchanting embrace of Hamburg’s Planten un Blomen park, one of the city’s largest and most iconic green spaces, a remarkable art project, “Scent from Heaven – Wounded Myth,” will unfold from October 17th to October 24th, 2023. As the creator of this immersive experience, I’m excited to offer you a glimpse into a world where art, nature, and human design harmonize, all while shedding light on the profound suffering of the natural world in the face of climate change.

The Agarwood Enigma:
At the heart of “Scent from Heaven: wounded myth” lies Agarwood, an enigmatic and coveted substance. You may know it as a key ingredient in perfumery, a symbol of royalty, wealth, and masculinity. Yet, Agarwood is more than just an aromatic note; it is the result of nature’s pain.
The Child Born of Suffering: Agarwood’s creation is a testament to the resilience of the Aquilaria tree. When this majestic tree faces adversity, such as injury or fungal infection, it responds by secreting a fragrant resin. Over time, this resin becomes infused with a rich, complex scent, creating Agarwood. In essence, Agarwood is a child born from the pain of the tree—a reminder of nature’s capacity to adapt and transform.

Climate Change’s Silent Cry: As we immerse ourselves in the mesmerizing installations of “Scent from Heaven,” set against the backdrop of Planten un Blomen’s lush greenery, we are reminded that our actions have far-reaching consequences. The Aquilaria tree’s suffering mirrors the challenges our planet faces due to climate change. It serves as a poignant metaphor for the interconnectedness of all living beings and ecosystems.
A Personal Invitation: I extend a heartfelt invitation to you to join us on this extraordinary journey. As you explore the immersive tree projections, multimedia installations, and sculptures scattered throughout Planten un Blomen, you’ll be surrounded by the stories of Agarwood, the Aquilaria tree, and the profound connection between humans and nature.
“Song of Entanglement”: A Grand Finale Our artistic odyssey culminates in the “Song of Entanglement,” a grand music performance presented by talented musicians and artists from HfMT Hamburg. This performance serves as a harmonious tribute to nature, a reflection on the suffering it endures, and a call to action for us all.
